BUILT FOR OURSELVES FIRST

The eureka moments never arrive at a desk.

Some close friends and I have been using voice notes to store messages and ideas, because the interesting thoughts turn up when we are nowhere near our computers. On a walk, in the kitchen, in the middle of something else.

So we built a solution for ourselves and used it for weeks before anyone else saw it. And we realised it is a genuinely meaningful way to communicate, to think out loud, and to keep our ideas.

THE FEAR IS REAL

When we shared it with friends, we heard the same worry every time.

“My voice could be cloned.”
“My information might get leaked.”
“Models are getting trained on all of this.”

They are right to worry. So we built Spoke in such a way that the worry does not apply: transcription happens on your phone with a private model, the audio never leaves the device, and your notes sync as text only after you sign in.

Recording is the easy part.

Your phone’s voice memo app records too. Where it lags is what happens after: turning a pile of recordings into information you can return to, search, and act on.

AN HONEST TECH NOTE

We are not reinventing voice to text.

That technology already exists. Spoke runs private, open source speech models on your phone and puts the work into making what you say usable. Cloud AI features are on the way, and they will stay off until you choose to turn them on.
